Deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted a law on the simplification of certain age markings for works of art and literature. Movies are also subject to the law. The State Duma canceled the markings from “0+” to “16+”.
The remaining marking, which will not be touched, is “18+”. The authors of the law noted that copyright holders can still recommend the age category on posters, entrance tickets, a screen before the start of a movie, and so on.
In addition, in the State Duma, instead of indicating the age, it was proposed to use markings, such as “for family reading / viewing”, “not recommended for children” and the like.
Also, according to the law, children cannot be denied the sale of school literature, regardless of age. At the same time, such changes do not apply to literature of the “18+” category.
